In Integral Psychology, the talents or “gifts” represent a special group of developmental lines or streams, which has for the most part been represented by Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences Theory. To date, neither approach includes a talent stream that can adequately account for excellence in abilities of acting, creation of dramatic art, nor those in related artistic fields such as stand-up comedy and fiction writing. In this article, I propose an acute sense of affective prosody—the psychophysically embodied “poetry” or “music” of affective expression. I present this capacity as the quintessential talent exemplified in the master performance of the actor and,correlatively, the definitive heart of the dramatic (and comedic) art.
