Lee I. Levine lives in Jerusalem where he has been professor of Jewish
History and Archeology at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem since 1971.
He has written many books and articles on Jewish society in late antiquity, specifically about the rabbis and the ancient synagogue. Professor Levine is the Dean of The Seminary of Judaic Studies in Jerusalem, the rabbinical school and teachers institute of the Masorti (Conservative) Movement in Israel, and is also a former Vice Chancellor for Israel Affairs of The Jewish Theological Seminary of America.
